5 Steps to Freedom

Jamie wrote out these 5 Steps for those who want to be free and stay free from addiction:

SPILL
Put Your Past Behind You.  Confess: “What I did was wrong and I’m sorry that I sinned against you, Lord.  I don’t deserve your forgiveness, but I accept the payment for my sin made by your Son, Jesus Christ on the cross.  I accept the gift of his salvation, and accept him as my Savior.  I welcome his Holy Spirit to live in my body and empower me to overcome sin.” (1 John 1:9)

STATE
Speak to Your Future.  Declare: “From this point on, I will be deliberate in choosing to put God first every day, to love and serve him with my whole heart and to trust him completely with my future.”

SEIZE
Take Your Freedom.  Make solid goals for your life.  Map out your journey and let God adjust it along the way. Don’t be a victim of circumstance – know where your feet are taking you and keep good company.

SACRIFICE
Pay Freedom’s Price.   As Jesus gave his life for you, so you must give him yours (1 Cor 6:20). Prepare for battle: get rid of everything that tripped you up in the first place. Let go of habits and relationships that lead you away from God’s best and always be ready to tell everyone the reason for your faith.

STAND
Guard Your Freedom.   Your enemy wants you back.  You must defend and protect God’s gift of freedom by standing guard over your heart and mind.  Don’t be naïve, pay attention to what’s going on around you. Pray always, walk by faith and not by sight; trust God to guide and protect you.  (Ephesians 6; Proverbs 4:23 – 26)

Dear Friend,
If you are imprisoned by an addiction, by hate, fear or a destructive sin, you need to know that God has provided for your release. He has given you an Attorney: His Son, Jesus Christ. In a court battle where you are doomed to lose, Jesus stands in your defense. Yes, you are guilty, as was I. Yes, you deserve to live out your sentence, as did I.
But God, the Righteous Judge, gives us mercy, grace and forgiveness. We can take our pardon and walk out of jail free simply by accepting his priceless gift of freedom through faith. That’s right, only believe.
I invite you into the freedom I now enjoy. Begin your new life now with this prayer:
Dear Jesus,

I have sinned against You. I confess my sins and ask you to forgive me. I believe You came to earth to save all those who put their trust in You. I believe You died on a cruel cross and paid for my sins with your own blood. I believe by faith that Your blood now cleanses me and pardons me. By faith, I accept You as my Savior. Come into my heart and be my Lord.

Amen

P.S. If you prayed that prayer, it is essential that you guard your freedom! Please read my 5 Steps to Freedom and then E-mail me at: jnashministries@gmail.com so I can keep you on my prayer list.

I can also help you find someone near you who can help you grow in your new faith in Christ Jesus.

Praise be to God!
